Windo Creative is live

The site is live. I want to explain two decisions on it, mostly because I argued with myself about both.

The front door is a diagnosis, not a menu

The site opens with five questions instead of a services list. They take about two minutes.

Here's the reasoning. Almost everyone who talks to an agency shows up with a symptom: sales went flat, the launch fizzled, a competitor keeps showing up first. The actual problem is usually somewhere upstream of the symptom, and you find it by asking, not by pitching. Selling someone a service before you've diagnosed anything gets the order backwards. I didn't want the website doing something I'd never do in a real conversation.

Is a quiz as a homepage a risk? Probably. Some people want to see a price list and bounce when they can't. I'd rather lose those visits than open every relationship with a menu.

The audit preview admits it's fake

There's a widget in the hero that spits out an audit-style report for any domain you type in. Every number in it is made up. It says so, twice, right on the widget.

The tempting version was obvious: make it look like a real scan. Plenty of tools do exactly that, and people believe them. But our actual audits are built by hand, and it seemed like a bad idea to start a relationship that's supposed to run on precise claims with a fake one. Technical buyers can smell it anyway. One inflated number and you're vendor noise.

Same logic explains why the work section has no metrics on it yet. The numbers exist. They go up when clients have signed off and I can stand behind them, not before. Slower, but I can live with slower.

More here soon: notes from client work, and what keeps changing in search now that AI assistants answer so much of it.
